Lamotrigine (common brands : Lamictal and Lamitor) is a Phenyltriazines anticonvulsant, anti-seizure
medication. Licensed uses: Treatment of adult epilepsy (complex partial seizure disorder).
Unlicensed (off label) psychiatric uses: as a mood stabiliser for treating bipolar affective disorder
and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and/or borderline personality disorder (BPD). Lithium, Lithium Carbonate SR (Common Brands: Lithobid, Lithane, Licab) is used to treat
the manic stage of bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness) and to reduce the frequency and severity
of depression in bipolar disorder. Lithium is sometimes used to treat cluster headaches, and depression.

Luvox (Fluvoxamine) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat depression and
obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Lyrica (Pregabalin) is used in the management of peripheral neuropathic pain as well as an adjunctive
therapy in the treatment of partial epileptic seizures in adults.

Loxitane (Loxapine) is an antipsychotic agent used to treat emotional disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Symptoms include confusion, delusions and hallucinations.

Mellaril or Melleril and Melozine (Thioridazine) is a phenothiazine typical antipsychotic, sometimes
referred to as a major tranquillizer. Thioridazine is used as a second line treatment for schizophrenia if
other drugs have failed.

Modafinil (Brands include Modalert, Modapro, Modiodal, Vigicer, Provigil) is a psycho-stimulant
which improves memory and brightens mood. Modafinil enhances wakefulness and vigilance, but its
pharmacological profile is different from the amphetamines, methylphenidate (Ritalin) or cocaine. Modafinil is less likely to cause jitteriness, anxiety or lead to rebound effects than traditional stimulants.
Modafinil is approved to treat excessive sleepiness caused by Narcolepsy (which causes
excessive daytime sleepiness) or shift work sleep disorder (sleepiness during scheduled waking hours
and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep during scheduled sleeping hours in people who work at
night or on rotating shifts). Modafinil has also been used or prescribed (off label) in the treatment
of ADHD and ADD, Alzheimers disease, myotonic dystrophy, multiple sclerosis-induced fatigue, cognitive
impairment in schizophrenia, age-related memory decline and jet-lag etc. There have also been reports
that it may be a possible add-on therapy for bipolar disorder. Other Drugs used to treat Narcolepsy

Mogadon and Novanox (Nitrazepam) is used for the short term treatment of severe insomnia which
is causing unacceptable distress and an inability to cope with normal activities. Nitrazepam helps to
overcome difficulties in falling asleep, but does not cure the cause of insomnia.
Nitrazepam is also used as a muscle relaxant and can also help to relieve anxiety.
Mogadon, Nitrazepam AL and Novanox can also be used in the prevention of certain types of epilepsy.

Mysoline (Primidone) is a barbiturate derivative, used to treat epileptic seizures (except absence or
petit mal seizures) and is used alone or with other anticonvulsant drugs.
Primidone is also used (off label) to control tremors.
