Itraconazole and brand name Sporanox is an oral antifungal used
for the treatment of various fungal infections, including aspergillosis, blastomycosis and histoplasmosis, as well as localized fungal infections
of the toenails and fingernails (onychomycosis). Itraconazole is used with caution in any patient with liver dysfunction, most long term users (more than 1 month) undergo liver tests.
Note : Brand name Sporanox can be labelled as being manufactured by both Janssen Cilag or Johnson and Johnson. (Janssen Cilag is owned by Johnson & Johnson).

Side Effects of Sporanox (Itraconazole)
The most common (minor) side effects of Itraconazole are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, edema, (swelling from fluid accumulation) fatigue and dizziness.
Less common but more serious side effects of Itraconazole are liver enzyme elevation, hepatitis and high blood pressure (hypertension).
Drug Interactions
Itraconazole must not used with terfenadine, cisapride, astemizole, triazolam or midazolam.
