Strong Pain Killers : Migraine Drugs : Narcotic Analgesics

Naproxen: is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) pain killer. Naproxen treats pain and
inflammation caused by osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis It also treats other acute pain such as
bursitis and tendonitis, gouty arthritis and menstrual cramps (primary dysmenorrhea).

Neurontin: (Gabapentin) is used as an anticonvulsant to control partial seizures (convulsions) in
epilepsy. Neurontin is also used as a painkiller to relieve neuropathic pain (neuralgia or nerve pain).
It is sometimes also used (off label) to prevent migraine and cluster headaches.

Nabuflam (Nabumetone) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Nabumetone is used as a
pain killer for treating rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis and other mild to moderate pain.

Naloxone Injection is used to prevent or reverse the effects of narcotic pain killers. Naloxone is an
opioid antagonist used for the treatment of opioid drug addiction and drug overdose.
It is also used to treat shock, alcoholic coma, schizophrenia and alzheimer's.

Naltrexone is an oral opioid antagonist, that is normally started after the patient is no longer dependent
on narcotics and helps to maintain abstinence after detox. Brands include: Antaxone, Revia, Naltima etc.

Naratriptan (Amerge, Naramig) is a Selective serotonin (5HT1) agonist used as a pain killer to treat
acute migraine, with or without aura, (not recommended for hemiplegic or basilar migraine).

Norco (Hydrocodone with acetaminophen) Hydrocodone is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from
the opiates (codeine and thebaine) it is a narcotic analgesic and antitussive (cough suppressant).
Hydrocodone relieves or blocks pain by binding to the opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord.
Hydrocodone is often combined with other drugs, in the case of Norco it is acetaminophen (APAP).

Norflex (Orphenadrine) is used as a pain killer to treat muscle injuries, skeletal muscle spasms or
tension and rigidity such as prolapsed discs and degenerative soft tissue disease especially in the lower
back, neck and joints. Norflex is also used to treat Parkinson's disease.

Nucoxia (Etoricoxib) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) COX-2 inhibitor which reduces
pain and inflammation from acute gout, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. It is also used to treat
chronic low back pain, acute pain, dysmenorrhea and ankylosing spondylitis.

Orudis (Ketoprofen) is an NSAID pain killer used to relieve the inflammation and joint pain caused by
rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Ketoprofen also treats bursitis and tendinitis, menstrual cramps
and for the relief of dental pain and mild to moderate pain caused by sprains and strains.

Oxa Forte (Diclofenac with Codeine) Diclofenac is a NSAID used to treat musculoskeletal disorders,
such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. It is also used for gout attacks and for the treatment of
acute migraine. Codeine is an opioid analgesic also known as a narcotic analgesic (pain killer) which
relieves moderate to severe pain by acting on the central nervous system.

Oxycodone: is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from the opiate thebaine, it is a narcotic analgesic which
relieves or blocks moderate to severe pain by binding to the opioid receptors in the brain. Oxycodone is
available alone or combined with other drugs (such as acetaminophen) under various brands including
Endocet, Roxicet, Percocet and Tylox, and with aspirin (brands Percodan, Endodan and Roxiprin).
Oxycontin is Oxycodone only (sustained release version).

Paracetamol: also known as acetaminophen is an analgesic (pain killer) and antipyretic that is used
for the relief of fever, headaches and other mild or minor pain. Paracetamol is also used in combination
with other drugs to relieve more severe pain (this allows lower dosages of NSAIDs or opioid analgesics
to reduce overall side effects). Paracetamol is available under numerous brand names including: Efferalgan, Gelocatil, Termalgin, Tylenol, Panadol and Paracip. Paracetamol is available in dosages from
200mg to 1000mg in various forms (capsules, tablets, effervescent tablets and powder packs).

Pentoxifylline is used to treat peripheral arterial disease to improve blood circulation and also to treat
intermittent claudication (aching, cramping, tiredness and burning pain in the legs), that occurs with walking and usually goes away with rest due to poor circulation of blood in the arteries of the legs.
Pletal also treats the symptoms of intermittent claudication.

Pentazocine with Naloxone (Talwin NX : Oral): Pentazocine is a narcotic analgesic (pain killer).
naloxone and pentazocine (combination) is used to treat moderate to severe pain. Naloxone is included
to prevent the abuse of pentazocine by injection, if injected, the pentazocine will not have any effect.
Severe reactions (including death) may occur if pentazocine is injected alone or with other substances.

Phenergan (Promethazine) is an anti-nausea medication, antihistamine and a sedative, used to treat
motion sickness, nausea and vomiting or pain after surgery. Promethazine also treats allergy symptoms
and can be used as a sedative or sleep aid.

Piroxicam is an NSAID pain killer used to relieve the symptoms of rheumatoid and osteoarthritis.
Piroxicam is also used to treat other acute pain such as low back pain, sciatica and bursitis and
tendinitis, gouty arthritis, pain caused by injury, such as bone fractures and menstrual cramps (primary
dysmenorrhea). Fast Dissolving Piroxicam (sublingual) is also commonly used for treating migraine.
Piroxicam is available as tablets, capsules, sublingual tablets, fast acting dissolving (dispersible tablets),
suppositories and intra muscular injections. Brands include Feldene, Felden and Feldene Flas.

Mefenamic Acid is a NSAID pain killer used to treat mild to moderate pain caused by rheumatoid
arthritis, osteoarthritis, sprains, strains, menstrual cramps and premenstrual discomfort.

Prednisone or Prednisolone is a corticosteroid available as tablets and syrup (oral), as eye drops
(ophthalmic), injections and suppositories. It is used for suppressing the immune system and
inflammation. Prednisone is most often used for treating various types of arthritis, ulcerative colitis,
Crohns disease, systemic lupus, allergic reactions, asthma and severe psoriasis.

Pregabalin: is used in the treatment of diabetic nerve pain and pain after shingles (neuropathic pain)
as well as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of partial epileptic seizures.

Propoxyphene: is an opioid analgesic also known as a narcotic analgesic, which relieves mild to
