Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to
treat musculoskeletal disorders, such as arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, spondylarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis). It is also
used for gout attacks, the pain from kidney stones and gallstones and for the treatment of acute migraine. Diclofenac is also used to treat the pain and inflammation following operations
or trauma (post-operative and post-traumatic pain), it is also effective against menstrual pain. Diclofenac is available in oral form (tablets or capsules),
injections, suppositories or topical gel.
Common brand names include: Acoflam, Cataflam, Defenac, Diclofenaco, Dicloflex, Diclomax, Difene, Dolotren, Fensaid, Flamrase, Rheumatac, Rhumalgan, Volsaid, Voltaren, Voltarol,
Voveran and Zobid. Diclofenac is also combined with other drugs: Diclofenac and Codeine as
Oxa Forte, Combaren, Voltaren Plus and Diclofenac and Misoprostol as Arthrotec or Artrotec.
