Piroxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to
relieve the pain and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Piroxicam is also used to treat other acute pain such as low back pain,
sciatica and bursitis and tendonitis or tendonitis (acute painful shoulder), gouty arthritis, pain caused by injury, such as bone fractures, menstrual
cramps (primary dysmenorrhea). Fast Dissolving Piroxicam (sublingual) is also commonly used for treating migraine and relieving the pain and
associated symptoms (nausea, light sensitivity etc) of migraine (without aura).
Pfizer and Nefox Pharma market Piroxicam as tablets, capsules, sublingual tablets, fast acting
dissolving (dispersible tablets), suppositories and intra muscular injections under the names of Feldene, Felden and Feldene Flas (according to the country).
Piroxicam brands from other manufacturers include: Flexase, Pirox, Vitaxicam and generics.

Precautions Before Taking Piroxicam Long term, continuous use of piroxicam can increase the risk of heart attacks and can increase
the risk of serious effects on the stomach or intestines, including bleeding or perforation. Some medications may interact with piroxicam, additional monitoring of the dose or condition
may be needed if you are taking lithium, water pills (diuretics such as furosemide) high blood
pressure medicines (ACE inhibitors such as captopril and lisinopril), "blood thinners" such as
Coumadin (warfarin), steroids, such as Prednisone, Rheumatrex (Methotrexate).
Other NSAIDs such as aspirin or Naprosyn (Naproxen) or Indomethacin or
Orudis (Ketoprofen) or Mobic (Meloxicam) and other similar NSAIDs. This NOT a complete list, therefore, always

Common Side Effects of Piroxicam heartburn, diarrhea, stomach pain, constipation, dizziness, headache, nervousness, blurred
vision, ringing in the ears, itching skin or rash.
